Black Butte
A few hours from Portland there is a magical land called Black Butte. Everything is green and there are some incredible views of mountains, lakes, and tall trees. We had a retreat here with the Portland Fellows Women's board. We had a blast getting outside the city and getting some extra fresh air. Pics say it better...

We are going to AUSTRALIA!
Part of the Portland Fellows program is the opportunity to go on an international trip in the Spring. After a long time of deliberating, we decided on Sydeney, Australia. We will be attending a 3 day conference put on by Hillsong called the Colour Conference. Wait, what... a color run? how fun! No no no. Colour Conference. Here we will be joining thousands of women around the world to dive in to topics such as leadership, community, and humanitarian issues around the world. We are staying with a few awesome families and have a few other voluteer opportunities there that are getting us so excited to see the 'world down under'.
Oh right... Also we made a website to give our friends and family more info on the trip! We are selling a few awesome hand painted cards and calendars, along with a few photo prints. Check it out if you get the chance. We would appreciate your support whether that be card buying, thoughtfully praying, or following us along in our experiences. |

Thanksgiving Tour De Texas |
Gosh I am so thankful that I got to spend time in Texas over Thanksgiving. My goal was to make every second count, to make each interaction more about other people and less about myself. I was able to spend the first part of my trip in Dallas with my whole family. Mom, dad, me, Sam, Mia, & Emma. It was so good to all be together again, especially now that it only happens a few times a year. We had Thanksgiving with my mom's side of the family - Grandma Dickson, Aunt Rene and many more.
Next I headed to Medina to get some real Texas time in at Two Bow Ranch. I derped around with the Rechner//Achilles crew plus a few. We fished, played poker, and sat around fires. Everything about time there is slower and simpler. Seriously, what a blessing to get to spend time there! Thanks Grady and Adeline for always letting me join in. I spent about 12 hours in Austin. It always flies by too fast. But I got some good time with great people that I miss a whole lot. I made it to Zilker, Coat and Thai (duh), White Horse, AND got to celebrate Amanda's b-day :) I'll be back for New Years! I took a few phone pics... Film pics to come. Standby. |
Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree
This day was one of my favorites so far. We ate a brunch too big for our bellies. Great start. Then we proceeded out to the Knoxberger Tree Farm where we made friends with the tractor driver/owner Colby. We had a dance party as he drove us through the field of trees and waited patiently for an hour as we examined each one very closely. We chose the PERFECT tree and each took turns sawing it down with a handsaw. We felt accomplished. We felt Christmas Spirit. We felt community. I want to go do that every day.
It took us 2 days to get the tree off of the car and into our house. But now it looks pretty awesome and decorated, sitting right next to our fire place. |
